Tackling ocean health & climate change through investment in AiiM Partners
The AiiM Partners Fund invests in ‘for profit,’ early-stage companies developing disruptive technologies and approaches to improve ocean health and address climate change. As examples, AiiM has invested in cellular aquaculture companies that are producing sustainable alternatives to shrimp, prawns, and yellowtail; a recyclable and compostable packaging company replacing plastics with recycled-paper-based packaging and bottles, and a company converting potent greenhouse gases into performance materials.
The oceans play a critical role in mitigating climate change, and are disproportionately impacted by climate change. The Becht Foundation’s purpose of protecting and restoring our oceans is directly aligned with AiiM’s focus on solving climate change problems through oceans, as well as overlapping sectors such as agriculture, energy and materials. This investment will give AiiM Partners more fuel to accelerate innovative companies disrupting big markets such as seafood, alternative proteins, performance materials, and plastics alternatives.
